Yeah, yeah, I know. I've been off here forever. A thousand apologies.
And this will be short. I don't have much to say and am not feeling very profound. Plus, the "g" key isn't working right now, so I have to bang it really hard to get it to work.
Also, note that is will be strange. But is that so far from usual?
Now that that's dispensed with, I can continue.
I am still alive.
That would appear to be self-evident.
But not so.
What if, for example, I was dead and am writing as a ghost?
Stranger things have happened.
Or, what if I was not me and was really an impostor?
Stranger things have happened.
Stranger things?
I leave you to decide what would be stranger.

A Different Experience
Well, we went and saw Prince Caspian last Saturday. I won't say a thing about the movie, as there is a rather more fascinating side of the issue to talk about.
The cinema.
This was my first time in a cinema outside of the US. It was a rather interesting experience. For one thing, the advertisements before the movie were quite different. I don't think I've ever seen breakfast cereal or candy sweets advertised like they would be on television at the cinema. Or, for that matter, potato crisps!! There was an advertisement for Walker's Potato Crisps, which as it involved a bunch of grown men farming potatoes in really muddy conditions (something about mud being good for spuds) singing, was rather fun, in my opinion. It was one of those things that was so ridiculous that I couldn't help laughing as I thought of how much fun they must have had doing it (actually, I think the ad was the only thing to make me laugh during the entire experience). :-D Another odd thing about the ads were that they were somewhat scattered into the ads for the upcoming films---at least, they led right into them. :-S
I said I wouldn't say anything about the film, but I will say that the projector went off twice during the film (in somewhat ironic parts, to my mind then). I know that happens in the States sometimes, but it's never happened to me before. :-)
Also, I don't know if it had anything to do with the time or the day of the showing---the film had opened Thursday and we saw it two days later at a mid-afternoon showing---but, the theatre seemed rather empty. There were maybe 30 or so people watching besides our group, I'd guess. I have no idea how it was in the States, but maybe it was just where we were---it doesn't seem very popular here. Who knows.
Anyhow, this is probably a bit boring and rambling, but I just thought I'd let you all know what I've been up to lately.
Then, of course, I came home and watched Doctor Who... ;-)

World War II
Today is the Sixty-Fourth anniversary of D-Day. It seems so long ago, but yet not.
On a related note, an unexploded German bomb from the Blitz was found this week in London. Excavation was being done for the future Olympic Park, when the 2,200 pound bomb was discovered. It's the largest one found in London since 1975, measuring about two feet by four feet. The Tube has had to be closed down while the bomb is being defused. It's amazing that after all this time, bombs are still being found---apparently they're discovered two or three times a year. I'll give you all the link to the news article, but I wanted to put down the last few lines here:
'The London Blitz lasted from September 1940 until May 1941. German bombers attacked the city every day or night for the first two months, but the worst night was the last -- May 10, 1941, when 3,000 people were killed in London, according to the Museum of London.
The first section there made goosebumps break out on my arms for a moment.
Not much here, I know, but I wanted to make a post on it.

Much of the Blitz focused on east London.
In all, more than 20,000 people were killed in the Blitz, short for "Blitzkrieg," the German word for "lighting war.'The first section there made goosebumps break out on my arms for a moment.

Not Much
I guess I haven't been on recently, so sorry. :-) I've been busy with Physics and reading huge chapters out of The Covenanters (today's was 67 pages long, though, I think that may have been the longest. The book is in two volumes and they're rather large, old books.). Plus, there's also trying to read for fun (James Herriot's If Only They Could Talk is what I'm reading now; positively hilarious!) and watching Doctor Who and stuff like that with the family. Don't worry; I'll try to not to give you any Who quotes. ;-D
I will, however, give you one or two from a Poiret mystery I saw on our last trip. Poiret's kind of sidekick is Inspector Hastings. In the episode we watched, Poiret is challenged to solve a mystery without leaving his house, so he must send Hastings out to gather all the information he needs. This leads to Hastings having to ask all sorts of questions and conduct experiments (such as trying to break into the missing person's safe while the wife is in the next room!). This doings lead Hastings to wonder... "I sometimes wonder if you set me this tasks just to see how much embarrassment I can stand in one day!"
Poiret is also somehow (we missed the beginning of the episode) saddled with a parrot. Hasting comes in one time and starts playing with it, sticking his fingers in the cage.
Poiret, without looking up from his desk, says, "Do not fraternize with that creature; I have not yet finished training him."
Hastings, with an edge or surprise in his voice, "It's just a parrot."
Poiret, looks up, and corrects Hastings, "I was talking to the parrot."
:-D
Anyhow, I think I'll leave it at that. :-)

Who's Who?
Sorry that the last post was confusing, fb. I didn't want to go into all the details and it was very, very late and I was very, very tired. :-) That's why I stuck the link to the synopsis in. :-)
I'm doing pretty well, Inky. Glad that your last final seemed to have gone well, right? Oops...Sorry! It's a First Doctor story. Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright were Susan's (the Doctor's granddaughter?) school teachers. They followed her home one night (They were concerned about her) and ended up being kidnapped by the Doctor. I think Vicki was a 25 century earth orphan girl, who they picked up after Susan left. Hope that helps a bit. :-)
Anyhow, here's a quote from another First Doctor (with Barbara, Ian, and Vicki) adventure called The Crusade. I don't think that needs much explaining. King Richard and his men are in a wood (near Jaffa, maybe?) and they're attacked by Saracens. To keep the king safe, one of his men hides the king and claims to be him. He is taken prisoner, then. The TARDIS crew has landed and Ian and Barbara go out to see where they are. A Saracen comes upon them and while Ian tries to fight with him, Barbara is kidnapped by some other Saracens. She and the man pretending to be Richard (Aha! His name is Sir William des Praux---sometimes the bbc sight can be very handy.) meet in the camp where they're being held prisoner.
Barbara: "I thought King Richard had red hair?"
Sir William:"Had? He still does, if this ruse works."
We've actually seen this episode before, but didn't realize it until we got the dvd. It's actually not complete (at least one episode is just sound and pictures) and so is on a dvd with a few other incomplete episodes. I think I liked it; or, at least, it has some funny bits. Ian gets knighted, the Doctor and Vicki get caught up in the court intrigue, and Barbara pretends to be the Princess (King Richard's sister Joanna) to Sir William's King. :-) In the end, the Doctor and Vicki have to flee (they've made an enemy or two during their stay), and Ian rescues Barbara from the emir. Plus, earlier, Vicki and the Doctor steal clothes for them all. :-D
Ok, so you all probably don't think that very funny... It makes me wish that more of the older episodes had survived. :-(
And, something from The Web Planet.
Barbara: "Here, take this."
Vicki: "What is it? It looks medieval."
Barbara: "Medieval? Now, I know you think that my generation is responsible for everything, but..."
Vicki: "Well, you wouldn't want me to put leeches on you, would you?"
Barbara: "No, I suppose not."
Vicki: "I suppose the Doctor must have picked this up one his travels. I've never heard of Asp-i-rin."
Barbara: "Oh, that's right. You studied medicine, didn't you?"
Vikci: "Medicine, physics and chemistry."
Barbara: "How old were you?"
Vicki: "Well, I studied those when I was ten."
Barbara: "Ten?!"
Vicki: "Yes. Oh, I forgot; you're a school teacher. What did you teach?"
Barbara: "Well, we taught the three R's: Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic."
Vicki: "Oh, were you a primary school?"
Barbara: "Primary school?! Did you live in the classroom?"
Vicki: "Classroom?"
Barbara: "A study hall. *Vicki looks confused* Just how long did you study for?"
Vicki: "Almost an hour a week. You see, we had these machines..."
Barbara: "Stop! Could you just pander to my medieval sensibilities and take the medicine? *smiles* It'll save me the trouble of putting on makeup and dancing around a fire to frighten away the evil spirits."
Vicki, with a laugh: "Alright."
Now you all are probably even more confused, but it's a rather humorous scene. :-) And I'll leave it at that. :-)

Doctor Who Quotes
We recently finished watching an old Doctor Who episode called The Web Planet. They're paraphrased as I'm tired and since I don't have perfect memory, but here are few quotes from it:
Ian and the Doctor are exploring the planet that the TARDIS has landed on. Ian found a pool and was about to stick his hands in it. The Doctor stops him and asks him for his tie. Ian gives it to him (he's been using it as a belt, oddly enough) and the Doctor dips it into the pool, and the part that gets wet disintegrates.
Ian: "My tie! That was my Coal Hill tie! You ruined it!! You just...just..."
The Doctor: "Saved your life."
They hear Vicki calling out for Barbara (who has left the TARDIS), and realize something is wrong. They start to run back and Ian runs into a web. Ian sticks there and tells the Doctor to go back and see what's wrong. The Doctor gets to where they left the TARDIS and it has disappeared. He goes back to where Ian was and finds him lying on the ground.
Doctor: "Chesterton. Chesterton." *Starts to shake him*
Ian: "Augh..."
Doctor: "It's me! What happened?"
Ian: "I don't know. The web just disappeared. Ah...My face. It feels like it's full of stinging nettles. Maybe I can put something on it when we get back to the TARDIS."
Doctor: "There's just one thing, my boy."
Ian: "What?"
Doctor: "We haven't got a TARDIS anymore."
(I sympathize strongly with the stinging nettles sensation. I recently had a hand and a finger stuck by them!)
Vicki and the Doctor have managed to control a Zarbi (the alien life form that captured them and Ian---the latter escaped in search of Barbara, who after leaving the TARDIS, has not been seen by them) by the same means that they had been controlled by. They have the Zarbi follow along and have just stopped to rest a second.
Doctor: "What are you doing?"
Vicki: "Just playing with Zarmbo."
Doctor: "Who?"
Vicki: "Zarmbo. That's what I'm calling him. You know, he's actually kind of cute."
Doctor: "You can think what you want. I'll tell you one thing; if we lose him, you can always get another."
And since that probably didn't make much sense, here's the link to the synopsis on the BBC site. :-)

Quotes Mostly---Again!
Hello, all! Busy times, busy times. :-)
"Emma's very good opinion of Mr. Frank Churchill was a little shaken the following day, by hearing that he was gone off to London, merely to have his haircut." Emma
Yes, I'm reading Emma right now. I have no great love for the title character, but I think that quote is quite funny, especially as I have no love for Mr. Churchill, either. In fact, I'm not sure if I can think of a character I do like. Well, maybe the Westons and Mr. Knightley and Mr. Martin. :-)
"I want to do this properly."
"Do all Scotsmen do it properly?"
"No, I imagine I'm the only one."
"And what will you do if Dad says he won't let me marry a policeman, much less a Scotsman?"
"I don't know...Obviously."
A conversation between Andy and Mary from Dixon of Dock Green. Andy wants to ask Mr. Dixon for permission to marry Mary, but he's been having trouble finding the right moment/enough courage. Rather funny, really. :-) But, it was sad as that was the last episode. :-(
"So if the TARDIS translates what we're saying, what will happen if I say something in Latin?"
A very good question, Donna! I've always wanted to know that! Bravo! :-D The Doctor Who episode The Fires of Pompeii.
"Daisy, come over here! They're giving away free make up!"
"Cam-o-flage. Must be terribly expensive!"
"You'd better go to join them---Before they blow dry their hair with bazookas."
An episode of M.I. High, a British children's school-spy programme. Lots of fun. The first two are one of the spies' dumb-blondish friends. The third is the person who the spy is supposed to be protecting. The camoflage and bazooka thing have to deal with a supposed military day at the school. :-)
All for now! :-D

Today is...
"If you would bring me a glass, I could place it against the wall and hear what they're saying."
"Andy! You can't!"
"Actually, you can..."
"No, I mean you can't---it's wrong!"
"Oh. Right."
:-D That's from the radio programme Dixon of Dock Green. It's part of a conversation between P.C. Andy Crawford and Mary Dixon. The neighbor and his daughter are having a fight (George Dixon is a police officer---don't remember his title---and he and Andy---Andy is boarding with the Dixons---just caught the neighbor's daughter stealing from the house and so they took her back over and that's what the fight's about) and while Dixon and his daughter Mary are talking about the neighbor girl, Andy is trying to hear what's being said. :-) The programme takes place in Dock Green, England in the late 1940s, I think, and it's about George Dixon. It's a bit of a mystery programme, then, I think. Anyhow, it's great fun, and made even better by the fact that Andy Crawford is played by David Tennant. ;-)
Oh, and I think you should check out the news about the Narnia films. Oh, and there's some about casting for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, too. ;-) Enjoy!

Well, hello, again
I am sure that if I thought really, really, REALLY hard about it, I could come up with some sort of witty ancedote to amuse you all with. Maybe. But I don't really feel like thinking that hard and probably by the time I'd thought of it, I'd have to leave for CY. So, instead, you'll be treated to whatever comes to mind. :-)
I apologize for not posting more earlier. Sorry. :-(
I'm listening to Dolly Parton's Joshua. Amazing what you can find off of Youtube. ;-) I guess I wanted to look it up, probably because it was brought to mind by some visiting youth to the Church last week. One of them started singing Ring of Fire (I should look up some Johnny Cash, too) and then Jolene. It was hilarious to see the Pastor and several of the youth here singing it. :-D It made me think of you all back home. As did going bowling---I haven't improved, so don't worry. It made me think bowling with the youth back home after VBS and how I was so bad that the Pastor and the girls on my team started to use the Think System on me. :-D
On the news side, Doctor Who Series Four starts April 5th! ;-) It should be fun, if we manage to see it. :-)
All for now!

Jokes
A man discovered a genie in a bottle one day. When the genie came out of the bottle, the man was informed that he could have one wish.
"One?" the man protested, "Not three? Just one?"
"Just one." The genie sternly replied.
"Alright," said the man, "I'd like you to build a trans-atlantic bridge; it should go from North America to Europe."
"Don't be silly," replied the genie,"That's impossible. You can only ask for possible things."
"Ok, then I'd like to understand women."
The genie quickly responded with "Would one lane be enough?"
:-) That's from my dad.
One day a man got a call from his girlfriend. She was very distressed and it took him a moment to call me her down. When she had calmed down enough, he asked her what was wrong.
"It's this jigsaw puzzle I bought. I just can't get it together. None of the pieces seem to work and it doesn't match up with the picture. Can't you please come over and help me?"
The man agreed to and headed over. When he arrived, his girlfriend was still quite worked up over the whole thing. He asked her where the puzzle was, and replying that it was on the kitchen table, she took him to it. He looked at the pieces of the puzzle spread out over the table and asked what it was supposed to be.
"A rooster," she answered and showed him the box.
He looked at it and then took her hand.
"I want you to do some things for me," he said. "First, calm down. Make a cup of tea and relax."
She nodded.
"Then," he sighed, "we'll put all the cornflakes back in the box."
:-D That was from Sister3. It's reputedly a blond joke, but I saw no need to prejudice you before hand with that idea.
Those two were paraphrased from memory, but hopefully the intent and the punchline of the jokes stayed the same. There's just one more now.
What do reindeer and the Doctor have in common?
"One?" the man protested, "Not three? Just one?"
"Just one." The genie sternly replied.

Quotes Mostly
Well, I'm not sure how well I like Donna, but I'm coming around to it. We'll just have to how it goes, but the idea of just a friend again has a lot going for it, in my opinion. :-) And as for Rose and Martha, a lot of it was the boyfriend thing---Rose would pick them up like flies, at least for a while, and she was sometimes a bit of a ditz---Martha didn't have boyfriends and she was pretty steady, if not quite as...I don't what exactly to put here. :-D A line from the last episode of season three comes to mind, but I'd hate to spoil it. :-)
Anyhow, I wanted to put up a few Doctor Who quotes from a Fifth Doctor story (Warriors of the Deep).
Tegan: "You're alive!"
Turlough: "Alive, well, and trying to escape."
Tegan being brought in to join the other prisoners interrupted Turlough's attempts to escape through an air vent. :-)
Turlough: "Why is it that you earth people always seem to think that a futile gesture is an honourable one?"
Turlough, quite obviously then, is an alien.
Picture of everybody is here. Left is the Doctor, center is Tegan, and right is Turlough.
And then on Chain Reaction, David Tennant (Doctor Who) was interviewing Richard Wilson (Dr. Constantine in The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances).
David Tennant: And, because you had the temerity to appear on Doctor Who before me, they made an action figure of you! *shows it to Richard Wilson* A 5-inch plastic you! And the best part is that you can pull the head off *laughter from audience* and it comes with two heads...you put this one on and you're a gas mask zombie! *cheers and laughs from the audience*
Richard Wilson: Oh my. *David Tennant gives it to him* Thank you. Now I'll just play with me.
:-) Or something along those lines. It was pretty funny. :-D
And now I realize that you will probably read this and then wonder why on earth any of that was considered funny by me. Sorry... :-D

After a very long time away...
I'm repenting, I'm repenting!!
:-)
Anyhow...
Life on this side of the Atlantic is rather uneventful so far. We haven't even really gotten any rain since we arrived!!!!
However, we ARE going toboganning this evening with the CY, so that WILL be interesting to say the least. :-)
It feels weird---I've already done my schooling for the day. Despite the coursework, I think I may have more time on my hands. Yay!!
My mom has been enjoying the radio programmes over here. The book of the week this week is called Trust Me, I'm a (Junior) Doctor. It's rather enjoyable; during his time at the hospital training the author kept a journal and so the book is accounts from his time there. Tomorrow night, though, there is something else of strong interest to us: Catherine Tate interviewing David Tennnant. :-D Sounds fun. Information here.
Well, whether we're able to see it here or not, Doctor Who Series Four looks interesting. Ood, Sontarans, Agatha Christie, Pompei, and the return of Rose! :-)
